In my iTunes Christmas gift card shopping and my lala.com perusing I stumbled upon Everyone You Meet is Fighting a Hard Battle and Next to Canada albums... I love utilizing bands I know to introduce me to bands I don't. Alberta Cross is on the radar screen, but still, the fact that they have 2 nights in support of GPN pushed me to check their sched and they're in SF in Jan, and now I'll go catch the show. Don't know anything about Lendway, though. Any pearls of wisdom from anyone? I see they're a Burlington, VT band. Not sure how much they tour, as their opening slot is all that's on the calendar at the moment.

Nice long jam last night at the Paramount Theatre - Rutland, VT. Sold out show, no opener and 3 hours of DTB made for happy sisters. Mike made us happy singing Sweet Inspiration, while Derek took us on a journey that didn't want to end with My Favorite Things - loose all thought of Julie Andrews - this is an instrumental riff that just borrows one familiar verse and then goes off on a wonderful bluesy, jazzy, jammy tangent that can't help but bring a smile. Key to the Highway...

Went to Portsmouth, NH to see Keb' Mo' last Wednesday. Very, very good show . . I love Keb's gentle smooth blues anyway but his humor - even when dealing with an equipment malfunction - added even more to the evening.

Local Providence newspaper is running a series on the Folk and Jazz fests. Since we all like things like the Vibes, Hunter Mt, etc......you can thank one guy for inventing the concept.....George Wein the man who created the Newport Jazz and Folf festivals.
