The truth is that this was not my judgment entirely, maybe not even at all. But sometimes life throws situations at you where you are forced to do something. In my eyes the only thing worse than making the wrong choice is to not choose at all and then face the consequence of your inaction.

So I chose.

But I've realized something very important recently, and that is this: to withdraw is not to quit. I am certain in my choice and certainty breeds belief. What reasons could I list for a decision such as this that would encapsulate why I am leaving the band? How could I sum up five years of experience in an easily digestible statement? I can't.

To all of the numerous people who have embraced me along the way, thank you. I am forever reverent to you.

To the band, I love you all and will hold all of our memories close to my heart.

Clearly it's your choice - if you feel that a lack of a clear answer on this is bothering you that much - you can choose to stop paying the bills. That's how the equation works.

They should look at other bands history's that have had a key member leave. Seems the ones that explain at least a little do not have this type of situation following them for the remainder of the bands exisitence. Maybe he will come back... etc.
You are right Mojo we do pay the bills. Why keep it from us? Unless they feel we will think less of the ones remaining. Like many do about the Allmans etc..

So I will go with GPN are a buch of aholes that threw a guy out because his farts stink and his ffet smell like pickles and that rules out over his music. Rumours are never good. Clarity is key in these types of situations.

I will leave(again) with an analogy from my business.

One of my salespeople quits. When the new guy shows up to call on an existing account he gets asked "wheres Bryan?" . Well,heis no longer with the company is the reply with no further explanation. So the customer has to make a decision without all of the facts. Does he keep doing business as usual with the new guy with a company that fired(remember he does not know the truth) his favorite salesperson or does he try to find a new company or the company that Bryan works for now. If he was told Bryan wanted to leave and it was amicable then the business is not in jeapardy. If is was not on the best terms you usually get answers like 'Bryan is no longer with the company'.

When salespeople leave my company I go see their customers personally and explain what happened without getting too personal. They deserve to know. They pay the bills.

Everyone is different but my wayavoids those potentially business killing rumours.

To each his own. No more on this from me. (I lied sorry)

First the definition of choose / chose . . . American Heritage Dictionary online
VERB:
To select from a number of possible alternatives; decide on and pick out.
To prefer above others: chooses the supermarket over the neighborhood grocery store.
To determine or decide: chose to fly rather than drive.
To make a choice; make a selection: was used to doing as she chose.


And a couple of premises that should be easy to agree on.

Confusing ? . . really ? ?

Does it leave some unanswered question as to what a the catalyst causing a choice to be made might be? . . yes.

Would we LIKE to know the answer to that ?. . of course

Are we ENTITLED to know the answer to that ? . . . for me the answer is No . . it is quite simply none of my business . . the money I've spent on shows and CDs was for value received - - it did not buy me a piece of the band or a say in their future.

Since I too am a business owner, I tend to have the philosophy that I won't tell someone else how to run their type of business if they agree they won't tell me how to run mine. Now if GPN hires me or solicits my advice, well . . well, they'd be in big trouble because I don't know jack !$+% about the music business except from my narrow view at the consumer end of the pipeline.

I think I do have the right to say how I feel about the situation . . maybe even have a flat out rant . .
but making statements that border on accusations . . or attempting to start rumors that stir up controversy because I'm pissed off does nothing but leave a bad taste of exhaust in the mouths of the people who follow.

Plus it simply serves no purpose.

As Mojo said . . if changes affect anyone's enjoyment of the music ... then just move on ... it's a crisis of musical taste not of life itself.

As always - just my thoughts . . and worth only the "paper" they're written on.
