On Bryans web site he refers to himself as Bryan Pete Best? Dondero. As you may or may not know. Pete best played with the Beatles from 1960-1962 but was
DISMISSED from the beatles & was never given a full explanation as to why.
Whatever the cirumstances are of Bryans departure, it doesn't really matter. Its just another chapter in the book. The fact is we all liked Bryan, he will
be missed, but it is time to move on. After all , the Beatles did an OK job without Pete Best.

Time to move on? Excuse me, but I think I will move on when I am damn good and ready. Perhaps when I hear some new music and see the new bassist in action.

Okay having a deja vu moment here and looking to make sure I'm on the right board . . .
This subject can turn into a term paper but as a general observation . . . expressing an opinion, having a personal rant that is clearly an opinion, even questioning opinions when presented as facts - all seem to work well for discussion . . . fans seeming to suggest to other fans how to be a fan ? - usually not so well. Just a thought . . . |

You can be as grumpy & hateful as you want to be. You have that right. As for me, I will continue to be optomistic and excited about the future of Grace & the boys & all the killer music that will be coming our way all summer long. When Bryan refered to himself as "Bryan Pete Best ? Dondero "I thought maybe this was his way of saying he was dismissed. and putting an end to all the speculations. All I was trying to suggest, is that everything happens for a reason. and there WILL BE some good come from this. It was the writer, not Bryan himself, who used the "Pete Best" terminology. Just a point of clarity.

I should not comment on this subject at all, b/c I find the topic uncomfortable, as I love all involved. However, damn-it if I'm not a stickler for details
and can't resist. I think the attestation that Bryan referred to himself as Pete Best is incorrect. Dan Bolles titled his article/interview as such. There
is merely a link to said article on BD's website.
Kired is not hateful. I know this b/c we do A LOT of online cuddling. Anyway, this change has stirred up a lot of emotions and opinions, and nerves are still raw. Any opinion you present on any of these (GPN related) boards right now will probably be reacted to strongly. P.S. And now I see that Mojo has beat me to the punch. |

Conway, I'm not trying to be grumpy or hateful (?), but something I've invested a lot of time and emotional energy into has come to an abrupt end as I
know it. Sure, it will continue on, but it will be fundamentally different from here on out. It should also be noted that many of the Liverpool based fans were
greatly upset at the time of Pete's firing, to the point of booing the new configuration. They too saw someone they cared about leave a band they cared
about. It's a lot harder when you know the people involved. I'm proud to say that GPN's fans will be welcoming of the new bassist. In fact, s/he
may not know what hit him/her, when the Posse first gathers round to say hi.

Well first, I never would have made the Pete Best connection, or even thought to look into it, so thanks! Learned something new today.
Also to add to speculation regarding his "dismissal" because this is a "discussion board" after all -- I've met with the band a couple of times after a few local shows. I've met everyone except for Bryan. I'm wondering if perhaps he just didn't fit the personality of the band as a unit? Grace, Matt, & Scott are all really friendly & seemed genuinely happy to be meeting the folks that love their music... Where was Bryan? Anyone else have a similar experience? Thoughts? |

Actually Bryan was the first one I met when the band did a group meet & greet in Lebanon, NH last year. He was very approachable, had a wonderful dry humor
and seemed more than willing to talk to the people gathered around him. I also spoke to him after a couple of shows and at a club in Burlington where the band
went after the Waterfront concert. He may be quieter, but think it is a mistake to confuse that with being unfriendly. I'm sure others who have had much
more contact with him will join the conversation.
Besides wouldn't you agree that most bands have a mix of personalities ? - just like their audience . . and that what truly matters is a musician's talent on the stage ? At least it does to me anyway. I happen to think Bryan is a very nice guy, but couldn't care less if he were a troll considering his contribution to the sound that came from the stage. If you are looking for a simplistic answer for Bryan's choice, I don't think you will find one . . but you might want to read a couple of things if you haven't already. Trust me when I say, Bryan is a wicked nice, genuine guy. I agree that he may be a little shy and quiet at times, however, he is a passionate musician and
never failed to execute. The reasons for his departure are complicated and may never be fully revealed, and I am sure that Bryan didn't make the decision
lightly.
