Random Thoughts after just watching the band at Bonnaroo.
The owls are gone and the red carnations are out. Grace, Scott and Benny all dressed up in some sort of Scarlet with Matt decorated with a red carnation. Sparky looking over the speakers, Mojo in the crowd (I think) and Grace never looking sexier. Her smile after someone yells from the crowd, (We love you Grace) lit up the place. The band was dressed for success. The tee shirts are gone and it's time to dress up for the next level of success. The new material is amazing and I now know for sure that my front row seats are a thing of the past. So much energy! On fire! Grace not wearing boots.
I feel as if this band has just grown up in front of our very eyes. What we always knew and thought is now a reality. GPN is going to the top baby and they have the medicine I want.
Set List
Some Kind of Ride Medicine- Top 10 on the charts for sure. Joey Ah Mary Mastermind- Stage was shaking. Whole band jumping up and down. Stop the Bus- With Scotty singing. Scotty and Benny tare it up at the end. New Paris- I loved it. Money- Goodbye front seat. This one's a hit. Shot of Mojo looking like he's ready to cry. Popper and Benny on vocals. Apologies- With Cat Ain't picking up the Phone- Scotty on drums with Matt Sweet Hands- Moved in to Drums Matt blew it up. NBTW- could have heard a pin drop. Matt was drenched. Cat in a trance. A three-way guitar swing. Grace's big voice took over.
I'm leaving now for the Southern Shore Music Festival- Can't wait for Saturday.

Agree with your front seats comment . . or we are going to have to be sitting on the Buy button when tickets go on sale ! Was pretty sure I saw Sparky . . didn't notice Mojo but wasn't paying attention to the audience shots beyond smiling at the size of it

I thought the same thing at the end of last year going into this year, but I still think we have one more year of the free for all at their shows (in most
cities/towns)-before they blow up!!!
Maybe after the album release in late fall will bring a different success but for now I think it will stay the same. They will be huge though, no doubt!!! Love the new line ups chemistry on stage, really exciting to see 2 songs on the setlist. Thanks for posting. |

was busy from Friday morning thru yesterday afternoon at our company partner retreat (business + strategic planning, budgeting, org charts, etc...).

Excellent set at Bonnaroo! So great that they got a prime webcast slot (even though it was tape delayed from the day before).
Did everybody catch the start of Some Kind of Ride? My browser was acting up and I only saw bits and pieces of the first song. After that it was clean and complete. Anyway just wondering if the webcast itself was messed up at the start or not.... I was also doing audio capture, so again except for the issues during the first song, I have a decent audio recording of their Friday set... Definitely digging the new line up - at times it's now a 3 guitar attack! Holy Moly... |
