Have fun greppson, Those guys are a blast and Rock the house every performance I have seen by them. Haven't caught them with John yet so I would love a
copy if possible. Even if its just your stereo files that would be great, I'll track it out myself. Not alot of time between tonight and tomorrow's
show. I'll bring the laptop with me if I need too.

If you were there ... Surely you figured out who you wanted to party with on Sunday! 8*) Small Posse contingent right up front. Dancing. Smiling. Hugging each other hehehe A younger me would have been disgusted! Grace's brother Lee joined us for what he called (to my 18 yr old buddy Ansley) "That was the most fun I've had dancing Ever, thanks!" Know you're having at least that much fun tonight ... Give Grace (and Matt I'm guessing) a hug for me and ... Make sure somebody dances huh? Hoot hoot |

Jackie pointed out that I always say this, but I'll say it again: "THAT was the BEST Grace Potter show EVER (that I've been to!)"

I agree - A lot of great fans there last night.
What more could you ask for? ---- Well Grace did that meet and greet at the beginning, AND this whole event was a fundraiser for the school. I have to agree with Dayna - "THAT was the BEST Grace Potter show EVER (that I've been to!)" |

I get the feeling that will be the last of Grace's intimate little shows. I've heard Medicine, That Phone, Money, & now Colors --- this upcoming
album's going be BIG! I feel privileged to have been a part of Friday's experience. I especially loved when she played Colors that you could have heard
a pin drop. Everyone put cameras down, stunned, and just listened. I'm not gonna lie, it almost provoked a tear or two.

So, anyone have an official setlist from this show? Glad to hear everyone had such a great time! I'm sure it was incredible. Saw some pics with Matt there
was he there the whole show, or just a few songs? Thanks for the info if anyone has...

Michael stole the setlist (before the encore, hehe!) and I'm pretty sure we'll get a full show review from tedheadone at some point in the near future.
Toothbrush & My Table, Falling or Flying, Stop the Bus, Colors (new!), Apologies, Big White Gate, Medicine (new!). Matt played one or two in the first set, and one or two in the second set - if I remember correctly. Grace tried to cue him to come out early - sounded like she got ahead of herself... "I don't think he knows he's supposed to come on..." Turned out, it wasn't time yet. 'twas pretty funny. |

Grace & Matt Benefit 7/10/09 | ||

The word for the day is GORGEOUS. Gorgeous day. Gorgeous drive across Southern Vt. on Rt. 9. Gorgeous campus. Gorgeous venue. Gorgeous Grace. And, of course, a Gorgeous grin on Matt. I haven't taken that drive in along time. But it is 74 degrees, windows and sunroof open, early Friday afternoon. What could be better? Hitting Wilmington, halfway between Brattleboro and Bennington, I remember a West Dover hilltop Inn I stayed in years ago. At the top of a dirt road, the trees opened up for a magnificent eastern view. I want to experience it again, so I detour North on Rt. 100, find the road, and head up. It's paved, now, all the way to the top. And the view has not changed, and the Cooper Hill Inn is still there. As are 2 homes with for sales signs. I wonder how much that view costs... Tracking back down to Rt 9 I continue West. Part of the way there is the old Hogback MT overview, and today it is clear and 180 degrees of horizon. Don't know why I didn't stop...probably because I remember the old Hogback Ski area, and I want to see how Mother Nature has reclaimed it after decades of abandonment. The ski trails are discernible, barely, and I'm sure in my lifetime it will completely return to a natural state. I do see a bullwheel for a ski lift, rusted and near overgrown. Deserted ski areas sadden me..but I'm sure some conservationists delight in it. And into Bennington, it suddenly comes to me, memories of a fantastic breakfast place, visited with an old love, Tracey, I shared a romantic weekend with...it was so long ago, it seems. The entrance to Bennington is spectacular, thru a gate along a road accompanied by a winding gravel footpath. At the first fork in the road, a show poster directs me to the right, away from the main campus. I am stunned by the beauty, it is like the entrance ot a Southern Gentleman's farm. In fact, at 5:30, there is haying going on in one of the fields, before I come to a gorgeous stone home that is now a music building. Continuing on, the Deanne Carrieage House appears on my left. The placement of the barn, the curve in the drive, and the small home on the curve of this drive reminds me of someplace...and it strikes me that it is very similiar in appearance to the Haybarn on Goddard College campus where NBTW was recorded. There are several Posse lounging on the patio and we catch up, before the doors open for a meet and greet. a crowd gathers around Grace, before she leads the crowd outside for plenty of pics and laughs.Ben and Justin are getting it all set to go. We nail down our seats for the show, and just settle in with anticipation. And before we know it, Doug is at the mic making a wonderful introduction...talking about the small 40 student school, of which he chairs the board, and of how this benefit came to pass. And doesn't mention it, but was pulled together in just over a month. Nice job, Doug!! And Grace finally takes the stage tonight, solo, in yellow dress and big smile. And I don't think I can do highlights tonight, the whole night was peak. So here is the setlist Toothbrush and My Table: Solo on piano Fooling Myself: Written on the fly at a soundcheck when they were out with the Benvenuto Rosso Duo. One of them asked, "Did you just make that up? You are gonna be FAMOUS" solo on piano Ah Mary: solo on guitar Falling or Flying: New glissando across the words "hittin' gold" Grace talked about how having the new members in the band caused a revisit to the older songs, and how Benny and Cat keep saying: "This is good, we should play this" solo on piano Big White Gate: Great story about writing this for her grandmother and jazzin up her life for this song. She said her grandmother heard it and said. "oh, Grace". Grace says all her Grandmother really did was play golf and make margaritas....to much laughter. Outta My Tree: Calling Matt out, out of order, she moves this song up from the planned play in the second set. Rarely heard oldie. Tonight's The Night: Again, rarely heard Intermission NBTW Part 1, solo One Short Night: This song was the first prepared for the new album. "But it won't be on the album, it got leaked on the internet somehow (as she looked at Mojo) but Doug had nothing to do with it. So it's a soiled song, tossed out" Be My Husband Medicine: On piano with Matt Colors: This song is a completely different animal! Solo piano //////////////////// Encore I Shall Be Released: solo piano http://www.flickr.com/photos/36837161@N04/sets/72157621215772845/show/ or better yet, see Nancy's great shots: http://www.photosbynanci.com/gracepottersolo.html Scene in the crowd: Scott's parents, Jan, Gary, Derik, Linds, Wally, Kathy and Keri, John, Michael, Jackie, Dayvna & Jackie, greppson, & Tekathiwa Just a special, stellar day all around, and time to make a fairly quick exit. The road back across Southern Vermont is lit by a near full moon, and the ride speeds by, home by 1 AM.

So, what happened with the taping of the show? Any chance of it seeing the light of day soon? THANKS, for the detailed review that was a nice read. I keep
having to wonder if 'One Short Night' would have made setlists this early on (or ever) if me and the lady hadn't talked them into that one for the
Greenville show!!! This album is going to really be something special from what's been said already. Bring on October and see ya on the ROAD. Thanks for
the cool pics too!
